The Challenge

The old garage slab had sunk unevenly due to poor compaction of the original fill. It needed to be demolished, the base re-excavated and properly compacted before the new pour.

The Result

A perfectly level, high-strength double garage slab with a smooth steel-trowel finish that will last decades.

The Full Story

This Freshwater homeowner was dealing with a garage floor that had sunk and cracked so badly that the car doors were scraping the uneven surface. The original slab had been poured over poorly compacted fill, and years of settling had created a mess.

We demolished and removed the old slab, then excavated down to stable ground. The base was rebuilt with proper road base material, compacted in layers to engineering standards. We placed steel reinforcement mesh throughout and set the formwork for a perfectly level pour.

The new slab was poured at 32MPa strength — the right specification for a garage that needs to handle vehicle weight, workshop use, and the occasional heavy load. We finished it with a steel-trowel technique that gives a smooth, hard-wearing surface that's easy to sweep and keep clean.

Three days from start to finish — the old slab came out on day one, prep and reinforcement on day two, and the pour on day three. The homeowner was parking in their garage again within a week. That's the Aussie All-Stars way: efficient, no fuss, built to last.
